The cool, sunny weather brought out a few old cars and 27 club members to the November meeting at Golden Corral, including Fred Hollen and his 1950 Dodge pickup.
Nelson Driver made the short drive to Waynesboro in his Model T Ford.

With the wind and cool temperatures, the terrace with the view was sparse. We'll be back on a warmer day!

The W-S Region had a great turn out for our annual vehicle display at Baldwin Park. Fred Hollen drove his 1956 Dodge pickup.

New W-S members Steve and Linda Ayers arrived in their 1928 Model A Ford. Many members may remember Steve's mother, long-time club treasurer Mary Helen Ayers.

Below are some scenes from the June Tour with the Tri-County Club to the University of Science and Philosophy in Waynesboro and Swannanoa in Afton
Tri-County and Waynesboro-Staunton AACA members gathered in Waynesboro for a tour of the The University of Science and Philosophy.
A few of the Tr-County folks had a beautiful day to put the top down on their Mustang.
Barry & Rose Linke drove their 1965 Ford Mustang.
This beautifully restored 1967 Chevrolet Corvette was on display in front of the University of Science and Philosophy.
The University of Science and Philosophy was founded by Walter and Lao Russell. This is a self-portrait sculpture Walter Russell created of himself.
Walter Russell's allegorical masterpiece, The Might of Ages, was completed in 1900 and gained Walter Russell many medals and awards throughout Europe.

A replica of Walter Russell's 30-foot tall Christ of the Blue Ridge. The original statue stood at Swannanoa until 1989 when it was moved to storage. Unfortunately, the original was damaged beyond repair during the move.
After visiting the museum, the group had lunch and then drove to Swannanoa, an Italian Renaissance Revival villa built in 1912 by James H. Dooley. The University of Science and Philosophy occupied Swannanoa from 1948 to 1989.

This 4,000-piece Tiffany stained glass image of Sallie Mae Dooley is located at the top of the mansion's grand staircase.

The abandoned, Depression-era clubhouse for the nearby Swannanoa Country Club. This building was rumored to be home of one of the area's best Prohibition era's moonshine stills and a favored supplier of government officials.

This 1957 Ford Thunderbird belongs to our May meeting's hosts Duane and Rebecca Perrin. Many thanks for hosting our picnic and providing a detailed discussion about their 2019 garage fire and subsequent rebuilding process.
This beautiful 1993 Cadillac Allante was recently purchased by Duane and Rebecca Perrin to replace a similar car lost in their garage fire.
Lots of old cars made it to the picnic on a beautiful Sunday afternoon, including this 1965 Chevrolet El Camino driven by the elder Gregorys.
Meanwhile, the junior Gregorys arrived in their 1967 Chevrolet Impala.
Barry and Rose Linke drove their 1965 Ford Mustang.
Larry and Deb Skillman arrived in their 1950 Ford.
Bobby McClain's 1952 DeSoto always draws lots of interest.
Nelson Driver drove his always trusty Willys-Knight.

Duane and Rebecca Perrin provided the program by discussing their 2019 garage fire and experiences with insurance companies and rebuilding. It was a sobering reminder that we all need to check/update our insurance policies and inventory our belongings.

Fortunately, Duane and Rebecca had another building so not all of their cars were lost to the fire. This is their original 1913 Overland.
The Overland also shares space with this beautiful 1930 Willys-Knight.
One of the Perrin's post-fire acquisitions - a 1929 Stearns-Knight 8-cylinder 7-passenger sedan.
The Perrin's 1929 Stearns-Knight 6-cylinder cabriolet was also fortunately stored away from the garage fire.

The day's guest speaker was Mr. James Belcher, Jr. His father was a survivor from the sinking of the USS Indianapolis in 1945.
Mr. Belcher brought along a selection of visual displays, including this scale model of the USS Indianapolis.
