May General Meeting

The May 15th membership meeting brought out Barry Linke's 1965 Mustang...
...as well as, Nelson Driver's 1931 Willys-Knight.

The May Meeting was supposed to be a picnic at the Tinkling Spring Presbyterian Church's pavilion. But the cold, windy weather sent us indoors to the church's spacious hall.
Forty seven W-S Region members begin lining up for the food, and there was plenty of it!
After dessert, President Ken Farley conducted the monthly meeting.

June 16th General Meeting

Raymond Swadley drove his '66 Impala hardtop. While most '66 Impalas were V-8 powered, this rare example came with Chevy's 235 Six beneath the hood.

August 5th Augusta County Fair Display

Expo's Multipurpose Building...12,000 sq, ft. and 35 vehicles!
Registrant #1 - Dave Potter's 1954 Kaiser Manhattan.
First 3 cars to arrive. Bob Ridle's '50 Hudson and '51 Studebaker flank Jack Drago's '56 Ford.

Milk jugs in front each car allowed the public to "vote" for their favorite vehicle by making a donation to the Market Animal Show (non-profit) for farm youth. A total of $124.67 was raised.

August 14th Picnic with Tri-County Region/AACA

The W-S Region's annual picnic with the Tri-County Region AACA always features plenty of fried chicken...
...lots of ice cold drinks...
...and lots of AACA members enjoying each other's company.
Plus this year's event featured a cake saluting the 50th Anniversary of the Tri-County Region AACA!

September 10th Somerset Steam & Gas Pasture Party

On the road to Somerset's Steam & Gas Pasture Party...Jim Gregory's '65 El Camino leads the way.
After arrival, Stu Allen and Jim Gregory head off to find the registration table.

The Somerset event features antique steam powered tractors and stationary engines.
There's no doubt early steam powered tractors were very "locomotive like" in appearance.

October 15th General Meeting

Duane's first frame-off effort, an extremely rare 1929 Stearns-Knight 8 cylinder Model H.
Here the restored frame has received its massive, rebuilt 8 cylinder engine and suspension system.

October 21st – Bruce Elder Honored

On Friday Oct. 21, President Ken Farley and other W-S Region members presented Bruce Elder with a certificate. It honored Bruce for his 23+ years as our expert auctioneer and talented entertainer, and made him an honorary member of the W-S Region AACA! Pictured with Bruce is Jim Gregory.

November 12th ODMA Virginia Beach Show

November 20th General Meeting

W-S Region AACA members fill the meeting room at Mrs. Rowes Restaurant in Staunton.
With windy & cold conditions, only Scott Gregory's '68 Buick and the Gray's '88 LeBaron made an appearance.
Scott Gregory works the room with tickets for the 50/50 drawing. Chester Bradfield was the winner.
President Ken Farley prepares to start the meeting.
Past-President Doris Stone delivers the nominating committee's report. By acclamation, the W-S Region AACA Officers for 2017 will be: Alfred Meyer-President, Walter Wilson-VP, Robbie Gray-Secretary, & Jack Drago-Treasurer.
It's "Show & Tell" time. Billy Melton leads off with a collection of rare first edition automotive publications.

Jim Gregory brought a fur "muff" used by passengers in open cars to keep their hands warm on cold days!
Who knew Ken Farley collected Bobble Heads? Here's "Manny, Moe, & Jack" from Pep Boys!
Stu Allen brought an odd looking automotive device from the good old days, guaranteed to give motorists incredible gas mileage!
Stu also brought an early jar lid opening device.
Our resident geologist, Scott Gregory, brought mother nature's tiniest diamonds...sub-miniature cubes gleaned from a riverbed in Africa. Like most diamonds, when first removed from the earth, they are not sparkly and shiny.
Before heading home, Chester Bradfield gives Treasurer, Jack Drago, his 2017 Region membership dues. Get your W-S Region dues and updated personal information to Jack by Jan. 31st!

December 18th Christmas Party & Gift Exchange

Club members socialize before the annual Christmas party.
Everyone received a beautiful antique car ornament (and some chocolate for the ride home), courtesy of the talented Clarice Allen.

Jim Gregory drew the number one chip and kicks off the gift exchange. It was quite the day for Jim as he also managed to win one of table poinsettias and the 50/50 raffle!

The Gregorys made the journey to Panos in their 1968 Buick LeSabre.
The Bradfields were certainly in the holiday spirit in their 1938 Studebaker Coupe Express.
Chester and Nancy Bradfield received the Santa trophy for Favorite Antique Car as chosen by the Panos Restaurant staff. Here they are receiving the trophy from Chief Elf Charlotte Kuykendall and Elf-In-Training Jack Drago.
