Below are some scenes from the December 15 meeting & Christmas party at Mrs. Rowe’s Restaurant in Staunton

The December meeting and Christmas party was held at Mrs. Rowe's Family Restaurant, as advertised on this 1954 Ford Country Sedan parked outside. It's now for sale!

The meeting room was tight quarters and filled up quickly.

A cold, gray day didn't stop Nelson Driver from bringing out his 1931 Willys-Knight.

Rick Down's accepts the Participant's Choice trophy for his 1953 Ford Customline. Ron Capps' 1938 Packard won the Resident's Choice trophy, but he departed before he could receive the trophy.

Below are some scenes from the June 16 meeting and picnic at Tinkling Springs Presbyterian Church in Fishersville

The Saturday before our picnic, a few W-S members attended a tour to Churchville with the Central Virginia Model T Club. There were 11 cars on the tour - 10 T's and one Hupmobile.
You know you're on a good old car tour road when you have to share it with bicycles.
The cars parked along the road across from Gap Pizza in Churchville, the group's lunch stop.
Stu Allen needed a car big enough to haul all the drinks and picnic supplies to Sunday's meeting at Tinkling Springs - his 1969 Buick Riviera GS fit the bill.
Nelson Driver arrived in his trusty 1977 Chrysler New Yorker.
Paul & Shirley Wampler drove their 1965 AMC Rambler Marlin.
Glen & Linda Royer made the trip in their 1972 Chevrolet El Camino.

Barry & Rose Linke kept the Model T tour theme going in their 1924 Ford Model T Roadster.

Jim Gregory needed some picnic hauling capacity too, arriving in his 1965 Chevrolet El Camino.
Bobby McClain had the reliable 1952 DeSoto out for a cruise and cigar.
W-S members try to stay cool under the picnic pavilion while socializing before lunch.
As always, there was plenty of good food to be had on a W-S Region picnic.

Following the brief business meeting, Susan Gray led everyone on a hour long tour through the back roads of Augusta and Rockingham Counties, ending with a tasty treat at Smiley's Ice Cream in Mount Crawford.

Below are some scenes from the April 14 meeting at Armstrong’s Restaurant in Verona

The only antique car that made it out on a rainy Sunday was Nelson Driver's 1966 Chrysler New Yorker.

There was quite the turnout for a rainy Founder's Day!
The guest speaker was Dean Webster of VDOT's Safety Service Patrol, a free service to motorists with disabled vehicles on Virginia's interstate highways.
Mr. Webster even brought along one of VDOT's patrol trucks. These modified Ford F-250s cost nearly $170,000 and this one is equipped with a $20,000 traffic camera.
After the guest speaker, W-S members were finally able to dig into lunch.
During the brief business meeting, Nelson Driver updated the group about the upcoming (June 7-8) Old Dominion Meet in Norfolk. The deadline for host hotel reservations is May 3.
Richard Obenschain told the club members about the recently completed Gasparilla Concours d'Elegance held in Tampa, Florida. Richard had just returned from the event about two hours prior, having driven Woodrow Wilson's 1919 Pierce-Arrow limousine on to the show field. He reported that this is the farthest south Wilson's Pierce-Arrow had traveled.

"Masking up" has become the new reality for touring.

The mill's large grist mill stone. It was made of several large pieces of quartz that were shaped and then formed into a wheel by heating steel bands and allowing them to cool around the stone's outside.

The adjacent miller's house, still occupied by the son of Mr. Howard Turner, who operated the mill from 1933 until his death in 1988.
The barrel brand for Abraham Breneman, who built the mill on Linville Creek ca. 1800.
The mill was saved by neighbors who helped extinguish fires after General Sheridan's Union troops attempted to burn the mill during the 1864 burning of the Shenandoah Valley. In 2009 the mill was once again saved by volunteer efforts to rebuild a section of crumbling wall which was 17 inches out of plumb.

Guest auctioneer Mark Robertson handled all the fast and furious bidding. When all was sold, the club raised over $550!
